Matthew Morris advises individuals, families, businesses and creatives whose matters do not fit neatly inside one jurisdiction. In California, that work covers family law, business and entertainment matters. In Belize, it covers civil litigation, property and estates, and the corporate questions that follow from them.

Clients frequently come to the firm because a single matter engages both places at once — a marital estate that includes Belizean land, a company with operations in two countries, or an estate that has to be administered twice. Handling both sides within one practice removes a layer of coordination and the delay that comes with it.

Where a matter can be resolved by agreement, that is usually faster and less expensive than litigation. Where it cannot, the preparation done early is what makes the difference later.

Clients are told what a matter is likely to involve, what it is likely to cost, and what remains uncertain. That includes saying when a position is weak.
